I visited Glasnevin cemetery on my way home after spending a brilliant 3 days (and nights) in Dublin. Arrived there around 14:30 just as a tour was about to start, €10 pp for the tour and entry to museum the tour was supposed to last 1 hour but it easily lasted 1.5 hours and i wished it could have lasted twice that.
Our tour guide was Patrick Gleeson, and my god was he brilliant this man knows his history, he was infomative, knowledgeable and funny. I learned more in 90 min listening to this man than i did in my school years, every school child should be brought to glasnevin cemetery and be given a tour by Patrick.
Apart from the tour I never thought a cemetery could be so interesting, the museum is also well worth a visit and the cafe was also quiet good, next time I will allow much more time there as it closes at 17:00. it is also wheelchair accessible. every one with an interest in irish history and those with no interest should visit glasnevin cemetery. I will certainly be back
